How it Works

The Scat Mat is a touch sensitive pad. It repels animals that step on it.  The electronics (in the snap on black Power Pack) convert 9 volt battery power into a series  of high voltage sparks similar to static electricity.

These sparks are sent to the mat for three seconds whenever the onboard circuitry detects that it has been touched.  Pet paws effectively complete the circuit and cause the sensation to be felt.  The Activation incident counter is incremented and the unit returns to passive sensing mode.

The amount of energy dispensed is adjustable using the OFF, LOW, MED, HIGH switch underneath the Power Pack.

A fresh alkaline battery will last up to 6 month in normal use, or activate the mat 5,000 approximately times.

Scat Mat Extension Pads w 12' Cord

Extend your coverage and save money with Scat Mat Extension pads.  Just plug them into your Scat Mat (includes 12' cord) and double the coverage.

ANY extension pad will plug into ANY full Scat Mat - medium to large, large to medium - whatever configuration works for your situation. 

Only ONE extension can be attached to each full Scat Mat.

A/C Adapter for Scat Mats w 10' Cord

Optional A/C converter (with 10' cord) replaces need for 9v battery if you don't want to be bothered with occasional battery replacement.

A/C converter will power one full Scat Mat and one attached extension.  Must be plugged into full Scat Mat - will not attach to Extensions.

Why it Works

Habituated behavior patterns are often correctable through simple avoidance of problem spots.

When positioned where pet feet will be just before an unwanted behavior is exhibited (i.e.: scratching, soiling, etc.), the ScatMat sends a strong message to the pet while it is 'thinking' about performing an undesirable act.

This unpleasant experience is quickly associated by most pets with the location.  To avoid similar static sensations they begin to avoid the area. 

Other reasons why Scat Mat's work:

• training is consistent at the location, 24 hours a day
• it is the environment rather than an owner doing the 'conditioning'
• the static sensations generated are sufficiently surprising and unpleasant to communicate an immediate 'Leave now' message.
